John Coltrane Bio:
John Coltrane was an acclaimed American saxophonist, bandleader and composer, becoming an iconic figure of 20th-century jazz with albums like 'Giant Steps,' 'My Favorite Things' and 'A Love Supreme.'
Lovell Bradford Bio:
Adjunct professor of piano at Davidson College, where he also studied Music and Art, who is well known and played on a number of top recordings in both the Gospel and Jazz traditions. Bradford is a native of Gary Indiana. His first musical influences were in church where his first teacher, his Grandmother, played every Sunday. His gifts grew and took him to Central State University where he would broaden his musical sphere of influences. He began playing in the jazz scene of Columbus Ohio before moving to Charlotte, NC. Lovell has performed with artists such as Pharez Whitted, Slide Hampton, Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Wes “Warmdaddy” Anderson and Ronnie Burrage, and many others.

Color of Jazz is a live, jazz, soul and blues series centered around jazz culture, paying tribute to jazz greats and emerging jazz artists . The series will feature local and surrounding, seasoned talent, aiming to educate and entertain. This event is sponsored by Culture Blocks, a community partnership between ASC, Charlotte, Mecklenburg Library and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation to bring arts and cultural experience closer to where residents live. Culture Blocks is funded by Mecklenburg County.
